mirla Posted April 14, 2019 Posted April 14, 2019 I'm not sure how to do something in AP that was quite easy in Photoshop: I'd like to be able to select a shape on one layer, then use that shape as a guide to cut out an identical shape on the layer below. This seems quite basic, but I've been trying for a half hour to do it, and can't seem to. Thanks in advance. Quote
firstdefence Posted April 14, 2019 Posted April 14, 2019 Select the Move tool (V) Cmd + Click on the shape layers square icon (Ctrl + Click On Windows) (this creates a selection that is the shape of the shape) select the layer you want to "cookie cut" the shape out of and press delete. Hide the shape to see the hole. Cmd + D to deselect the selection. You can also save the selection as a spare channel for use at a later time by using Select > Save as selection > As spare channel or save to a file if you want to load the same shape into another document Select > Save as selection > As file Leigh and Alfred 2 Quote iMac 27" 2019 Sequoia 15.0 (24A335), iMac 27" Affinity Designer, Photo & Publisher V1 & V2, Adobe, Inkscape, Vectorstyler, Blender, C4D, Sketchup + more...
