Photo: keep crop tool aspect ratio while scaling?

Recommended Posts

whether I hold the shift key or not, as I scale the cropping grid over the image to get the crop I want, the aspect ratio I typed into the appropriate fields does not hold!

How does one instruct Photo to hold the aspect ratio the user has typed in?

Thank you

What cropping mode did you choose?

It works fine for me (on Windows) with Custom Ratio chosen. Changing the box size by dragging from any node keeps the ratio I've chosen.

Strange, then. Sorry, I'm out of ideas for now.

Exactly what you show in your screen capture.

I am also on Mac and I have no problem with the Crop tool behaving properly as @walt.farrell did with his windows machine. I can't get it to become unconstrained unless I change the popup menu to unconstrained.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4
Affinity Designer 2.4.0 | Affinity Photo 2.4.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

OK, yes, that's the secret: one must pick "Constrained" from the pop-up.

There is no "Constrained" on the pop-up menu on my copy of Affinity Photo. Are you sure there is an option with that name on yours?

I'm not sure what pop-p is being discussed. I originally referred to the mode selection box on the Context Toolbar.
