lisawilkins
I know that there is something I'm overlooking since I'm new to Affinity Designer. and it is not working the same as AI, Figma, Sketch or any vector tool I've used: What am I doing wrong that prevents the stroke from showing up?? I selected the rectangle tool. I drew a rectangle. I've chosen a stoke color from the color box next to the text "Stroke:" and set the stroke to be 5pt thick. It should be showing a green frickin stroke around a red frickin rectangle , but instead it shows nothing. I know I can do this with the fx panel but it doesn't behave the same as a stroke does...plus this should just work. WHAT am I not doing here? It seems so basic! lisawilkins
I didn't...every time I make or chose an existing stroke it's 0...so weird. I understand the default being 0 on an existing shape.... I dorked around with this for 2 days, and I knew if I just posted about it the solution would immediately become obvious...and of course it did. Just like trying everything and then turning it of an on again (TIOAOA)
Old Bruce
Set up the object the way you would want it to be. Select it. Go to Edit > Defaults > Synchronize from Selection. Immediately go to Edit > Defaults > Save. Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4 Affinity Designer 2.4.1 | Affinity Photo 2.4.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.1 | Beta versions as they appear. deergod
I just had the same problem. My problem was "Draw stroke behind". Had to switch it.
D Lewis
I have the same issue with the stroke not appearing. I'm a long time Illustrator user (36 years), and am retiring from freelance work. I do NOT want to keep my Adobe CC subscription... way too costly... to do the occasional little project for myself or friends/famiily. I'm exploring the Affinity suite with the 30-day free trial too see how they compare, just downloaded it yesterday. So far I like Designer... but ran into the stroke issue. I've checked everything already mentioned in this thread... opacity, Draw Stroke Behind fill, etc. Everything seems like it should work, but it doesn't. Any ideas? D Lewis
Hmmm... there must be something wrong with the way I approached something. I just tried creating a new document... and the stroke function worked fine. However, when I copied an pasted the same object into the doc I had been working on... it lost its stroke attribute. Time to play detective, I guess.

D Lewis
I am going to assume that there was some issue due to the document I was working on was opened from an Adobe Illustrator file. When I cut and pasted the art from that document into one that I created from Designer, the stroke shows up just fine.
Kaylee Mickelson
I am having the same issue. (opacity defaulting to 0%) For some reason this tends to happen when I'm connecting and disconnecting my Wacom tablet. Wish I could figure out how to prevent this. When I copy and paste my work into a new document, the problem goes away. edit: I fixed it. Make sure the brush tool is selected, then click Edit -> Defaults -> Factory Reset Edited January 9 by Kaylee Mickelson Solved the issue

tomaskafka
Also, View - View Mode - Pixels (retina), for some god damn reason selecting "Vector" there draws all strokes as 1px lines. Facepalm!
