[By Design] All Icons disappeared when scrolling 7 PEF Files

Recommended Posts

I loaded 7 images to Photo version 1.6.5.123. I attempted to scroll through the files in order to select the one that I wished to develop and save.

Suddenly all the icons disappeared leaving just the top options, File; Edit; view;windows and help. I attempted to close down Affinity Photo, but it kept advising that a photo was being developed. From File I tried to load the Persona "Develop". Again errors telling me that a Persona was in use. My operating software is Windows 10.

To exit I had to crash via Task Manager. Here is a copy of the screen

Hi @evansmr1,

The View menu is where you find the menu options for all the various UI parts. I think what you needed was the Context Toolbar, which is found under the View menu. In the Develop persona, it has the buttons Develop and Cancel.

Affinity Photo 1.6.5.123, Beta 1.7.0.243; Win10 Home Version:1803, Build: 17134.706: Intel i7-4770, 3.40GHz, 16GB Ram, Nvidia GTX 645

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums, @AntonH.

If you have the exact same problem as @evansmr1 then I suspect you pressed the Tab key. Just press Tab again to restore the full UI.

When I open the programme, the full menu is there but once I import a raw image, only File, Edit, View, Window and Help remain. Hitting Tab does not help. However, without making any changes, in order to close the file, I then hit Develop and the full menu appears!

Please provide a screenshot of the entire window after you import a raw image, and before you hit Develop. (If you have Develop available, you at least have the Context Toolbar available, not just the main menu.)

It may just be that you need to View > Show Tools and possibly View > Show Toolbar and uncheck View > Studio > Hide Studio.

Now I'm getting confused, because you said that you could click on Develop, but that's on the Context toolbar, which is not visible in your screenshot. So how did you click it?

From that screenshot you need View > Show Context Toolbar and (probably) View > Studio > Reset Studio.

I achieved Develop by clicking on the Affinity logo but have now turned on the Context toolbar, which has made no difference to the missing parts.

I don't see anything missing in that screenshot. It looks as I would expect for the Develop Persona.

What do you think should be there?

TEXT DOCUMENT LAYER SELECT ARRANGE FILTERS are missing from the top bar

Those are Photo Persona functions, not Develop Persona functions. Therefore they are not available when you're in the Develop Persona.
