firstdefence
That's an Image layer, if you right click on the layer and select Rasterise it will become editable. why don't you make your own suitcase and add it to the Assets panel, its just a rounded rectangle and a donut shape. kconkling
I placed this image from my folder where I saved all the icons I made and they are all saved as an svg. So, when I placed it, it becomes an image? I didn't notice. And I thought rasterize meant making an object a jpg. I haven't found the import button to get all my icons. kconkling
I feel bad bugging everyone I've watched videos and googled like crazy..but certain tiny things like this are hard to find. I'm going to open a new layer and place from my folder. Now with the wording, I typed all them in, but again, same thing happened.
firstdefence
If you drag or place an SVG it will be an embedded document, if you open the SVG it will open as a curve. You can then add it to an Assets category. Quote iMac 27" 2019 Somona 14.3.1, iMac 27" Affinity Designer, Photo & Publisher V1 & V2, Adobe, Inkscape, Vectorstyler, Blender, C4D, Sketchup + more... dutchshader
could you post the suitcase file? because i wonder if the svg you exported was a vector before export. you can export a raster file as a svg, but when opened in designer it will show as a image file. dutchshader
yes that's what i thought, it is a raster file exported as a svg. so something went wrong when you created the icon Quote intel core i5, 16GB 128Gb ssd win10 Pro Huion new 1060plus. philips 272p 2560x1440px on intel HD2500 onboard graphics Razer Tartarus Chroma
kconkling
your kidding! I redid all of my icons because before I had them saved as a png. So, I redid them and saved as svg. Correct, an embedded document can still be a vector but not editable within Affinity Designer unless you open the actual file and as dutchshader has noted it must contain vector curves not bitmap saved as SVG. SVG is a container file that can store more than just vectors. No, you must have saved the png file as an svg, this doesn't convert a png to a vector it merely places the png within the svg container. In order to convert a png to a vector it either needs to be traced or redrawn using vector shapes or the pen tool. kconkling 1 Quote iMac 27" 2019 Somona 14.3.1, iMac 27" Affinity Designer, Photo & Publisher V1 & V2, Adobe, Inkscape, Vectorstyler, Blender, C4D, Sketchup + more... PNG is a raster image format, which means anything you save in that format will be a 'flat' one layer image with all vectors converted to pixels. In that respect it is like JPEG. kconkling 1 Quote All 3 1.10.8, & all 3 V2.4.1 Mac apps; 2020 iMac 27"; 3.8GHz i7, Radeon Pro 5700, 32GB RAM; macOS 10.15.7 Affinity Photo 1.10.8; Affinity Designer 1.108; & all 3 V2 apps for iPad; 6th Generation iPad 32 GB; Apple Pencil; iPadOS 15.

We're here to help you. 10 hours ago, kconkling said: they were saved as pngs first. Once a vector is saved as a PNG (raster), you cannot reverse the process. It's a one way conversion. kconkling 1 Quote The website is still a work in progress. The "Comics" and "Shop" sections are not yet ready.
