janetw
Hi, I have a Nikon D5600 and below is how the image looks when I open the photo in affinity. (Does not automatically open in persona). Picture very pixelated Please help Thanks
CliveH
The size of your image (shown at the top left) is 160 x 120 pixels so it is, understandably, pixelated and it does not look like an Affinity problem. Where did the image come from? If a jpeg from your camera have you got it set to an extremely low quality setting? You should find that if you open a higher resolution file that you don't have the same issue. Clive
Staff MEB Posted April 2, 2019 Staff Share Posted April 2, 2019 Hi janetw, Welcome to Affinity Forums Can you confirm you are you opening a .NEF file please? Seems Affinity is just loading a JPG preview of the file. Can you also attach the .NEF file you are trying to open in Affinity Photo so we can take a look? Thanks. Jaffa
I have a Nikon 5200, just an earlier model than yours, Janet. NEF files are consistently fine in AF. See that you image is at 400%, so many images would be pixellated at that size. What is it like at 100%? v_kyr
A quick test with some Nikon D5600 NEF sample files (from here on the page bottom) shows that it works on the APh v1.7 Mac version ... The OP uses Win and seemed to used the Nikon Transfer tool for transfering the files over from the cam to the computer. I would check if the transfered NEF files integrity are Ok (also the Exif data contents) and if those can be opened as RAWs by other software like Nikons ViewNX-i & Capture NX-D etc. correctly. firstdefence 1 Quote ☛ Affinity Designer 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Photo 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Publisher 1.10.8 ◆ OSX El Capitan ☛ Affinity V2.3 apps ◆ MacOS Sonoma 14.2 ◆ iPad OS 17.

I was downloading the files from the camera onto my laptop instead of directly from the card. All working well now. Thanks
