Hello still on the trial thinking about buying this, but on the trial im not seeing any kind of photo organiser. Is there some tab or something to pull up something to rate pictures to help with the flow or if this is going to be coming soon? thank you!

There is no organizer or the like with rating functionality embedded. For these tasks you would have to use some other third party software, which then hopefully can be also setup/adjusted to deal with files of the Affinity format.

☛ Affinity Designer 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Photo 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Publisher 1.10.8 ◆ OSX El Capitan
☛ Affinity V2.3 apps ◆ MacOS Sonoma 14.2 ◆ iPad OS 17.2

XnView MP is a popular choice - it's free and it's able to display the image previews embedded in .afphoto files.  If you're going to try it, make sure you've enabled embedded previews (Edit / Preferences / General / Save thumbnails with documents).

Is XnViewMP an photo Organizer? I haven't used it but was curious so had a look at their website. It seems like it's more of viewer, that has no cataloging or organizing capability. When I think of an organizer, it's more like Lightroom, Capture One, Photo Mechanic, Photo Supreme.

Affinity Photo 2.6..; Affinity Designer 2.6..; Affinity Publisher 2.6..; Affinity2 Beta versions. Yes, you can use it as an organizer. You can categorize files, rate them, tag them, search based on various data, etc.

Ok, nice to know. I'm still using LR 6.14 Perpetual. I might dowload it and have a look.

Thanks Walt

Another one is digiKam (opensource).

I may be misremembering, but I thought digiKam didn't show AP previews or, worse, allow external editors?

AFAIK it offers "Open" and "Open with ..." commands and thus at least supports to call a systems associated default app for certain file formats. Related to previews, don't know if it yet shares the Affinity Quickview usage the OS uses.
