If you have a .afmacros file (with "s" on the end) you need to import it into the Library panel.
If you have a .afmacro file (no "s") you need to import it into the Macro panel.

(Renaming it from .afmacro to .afmacros or vice versa will not help.)

Macros files with an S at the end are ment for the "Studio > Library" panel instead, import your .afmacros files there on that panel.
