casterle Posted March 28, 2019 Posted March 28, 2019 When I'm zoomed in working on an image, I need to zoom out occasionally to see the overall effect. Fit to Screen is great for this, but how do I get back to my original zoom level and screen position? How about a new feature: Re-zoom. When I pressed Fit to Screen, AP would record my screen position and zoom level; then pressing Re-zoom would put me right back where I was. Quick, efficient and (I imagine) easy to implement. walt.farrell Posted March 28, 2019 Posted March 28, 2019 For existing functions, you might try: View > New View which will give you a second view of the same document. You can pan to where you want to be, at a different zoom level from the other view, so all you have to do is switch between the views rather than zooming in and out. Using the hamburger menu in the Navigator panel, select Advanced. Then you can zoom and pan to a point of interest, and using the cog icon you can add a new Viewpoint. Or several, at different locations and zoom levels. Then when you want to see a different zoom level or location you can just switch to a different viewpoint. casterle 1 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. Thank you both! I've only been using AP for a few weeks - so much yet to learn! Do you know if there's a way to assign switching between views to a shortcut? You have to assign one. we can only cycle through them not just go to one particular one. Note that @Old Bruce's shortcut work with View Points, not Views. I'm not aware of shortcuts for Views, except that having created a new View, you can use the Window pull-down to switch between one View and another. And at that point, if the pull-down shows that one view is window #2 and the other is window #3 then you can use alt+W+2 or alt+W+3 to switch between them. This does work in the Affinity apps on macOS, but I don't have these apps for Windows. On Mac it is Command `. Usually (incorrectly) referred to as tilde ~. It is the key directly below the escape key, to the left of 1. Old Bruce Posted March 29, 2019 Posted March 29, 2019 We must have different OS Preferences set up, for me in Affinity Photo using the consolidated window with several tabs I use Control ` to cycle through them. In Affinity Photo in Separated Mode I can't cycle through the open windows. Must be missing a preference for that and never use Separated Mode anyway. Command Tab only ever and always cycles through my running applications. walt.farrell Posted March 29, 2019 Posted March 29, 2019 Ctrl+tab is Next Window in the Affinity applications on Windows, too. Which is also a form of Next View, I suppose, if one has only two tabs open Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU.
