hazelr2019
Hello I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong when creating a macro, and wanted to find out whether anyone knows something I don't . . . . In both 1.6.7 and 1.7.0.112 when I apply a resize document, and reduce from say 2000px to 800px on the width, it works and scales the height also (along with other layer adjustments etc). When I apply the macro to the closed, unsaved and re-opened document, the scale does not work as it did when creating the macro. So, when I created the macro and resized the width from 1654px to 827px the height automatically changed to 595pX - exactly what I wanted. Yet when I close the document without saving then re-open, when I apply the created and saved macro, the dimensions are automatically changed from 1654px x 134px to 827px x 671px (instead of the desired height of 595px). What am I doing wrong? Thanks for any help you can give me.
John Rostron
When you create a macro using document resize, the dimensions that you enter during the macro recording become baked into the macro itself. This means that when you apply that macro to the same, or a different image, then it will apply those baked-in dimensions. As far as I am aware, the only way to resize images in a macro is to use Filters > Distort > Equations. Here you can enter formulas (or Field Expressions) that will resize your image. These will not be baked into the macro. You might like to read my post on Resize an image to a fixed maximum size. v_kyr
Usually for one and the equal sized document (same initial doc dimensions) this shouldn't happen. But macros often behave strange in APh and do suffer from what John mentioned above during recording and playback. - All in all the macro behavior and handling has to be reworked in many aspects for APh to be generally more useful and stable here. hazelr2019
I meant to come back to this a few days ago to say Thanks. John - the post you wrote and updated was exactly what I needed - and I'm impressed with myself for managing to follow and apply equations!! Thanks again.
