I wanted to start a topic for everyone new to affinity designer who's working through the work book or just teaching them selves the basics to upload your highs, lows struggle and flow of your progress or any help some of the senior users would be more than welcomed

I'm new to AD and working through the workbook I thoroughly recommend it for anyone wanting to get to grips with AD, just playing around with the software is unlikely to cut it you need  to be taught somewhat and the workbook is great for that. I'm really enjoying reading through the book and I'm currently on the second illustration project (reflected skyline) having messed up the first project somewhat but I guess that is to be expected however the panther wasn't the easiest first project I don't think.

i too made a real mess of the first project. i was hoping to get it refinished and post it here the day i created this post but ended up really busy.
what ever it turns out like on my next attempt, im going to just share it

Here is my panther attempt, I was going to start over as the mistake I made was not to make the panther out of shapes making the colouring in and manipulation of colour too difficult to pull off well, however I decided to salvage it as best I could so I could move on to other projects.

yours is really good. the mistake i made was not to seperate everything into layers, so when i went to add the black it became a mess. not sure if i saved it lol
Edit* I didnt save it..

The Panther by Ogden Nash

The panther is like a leopard,
Except it hasn't been peppered.
Should you behold a panther crouch,
Prepare to say Ouch.
Better yet, if called by a panther,
Don't anther.

when you select a layer, on the right hand side in the strokes option i think it is, theres a white box with a red diagonal through it, that hides the strokes.

Well at least he can see where he is going, minus legs and an ear.   His eyes are lovely.
