Semi-automated way to fill affinity docs

Recommended Posts

Dear all,

I drafted a simple form in Affinity. For example:

Obviously, my real document is a little more sophisticated but this is just for example purposes :). What I want to do know now is to create several of these files with different names and addresses. So I am looking for a way in which I can merge an Affinity file with an Excel doc. So let's say I have an Excel file with:

Name, Address

Henk, Applestreet1

Josh, Bananastreet1

Then I am looking for a way to define my name section as a name section and address section as an address section. And then I am looking for a macro-ish thing which allows me to place an Excel file and a template in one folder. After which I can create a "filled up" version of the template (based on the information in the Excel file. Is there anybody who can tell how I can achieve this in Affinity.

See if this workaround for a simple data merge helps (using Publisher)

To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.

Make with  Affinity an SVG template with coresponding placeholder entries (#name, #address et.) and then merge that one via some scripting or Excel related VBS etc. with your Excel csv output.

☛ Affinity Designer 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Photo 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Publisher 1.10.8 ◆ OSX El Capitan
☛ Affinity V2.3 apps ◆ MacOS Sonoma 14.2 ◆ iPad OS 17.2
