I've looked for tutorials on this topic and nothing seems to explain it.

So if I have two raster layers, it's really frustrating because if I know for a fact that I want to merge those two pixel layers, the program won't let me. I try CTRL+E. Nothing. I try to rasterize the already raster pixel layer. Try CTRL+E again... Nothing. There's no way to merge these layers it seems. I I've resorted to grouping them, which still sucks. Because regardless of if I'm drawing in Affinity Photo or Affinity designer, I could have a sketch spread out on three layers, by accident and then if I need to erase, I have to juggle between all of them to figure out how to erase something that should take 1 second to accomplish.

This is extremely frustrating and anything anyone can do to explain this would be freakin' awesome.

... And merging raster layers is a really super basic operation. I can't see why it wouldn't be in the program.

I am not sure if you are on Mac or Windows but check the keyboard shortcuts set for Merge Down, Merge Selected & Merge Visible in Preferences > Keyboard Shortcuts, or on the Layers menu in whatever version of Affinity Photo you are using. Select all the pixel layers & use one of those shortcuts or the menu item & it should work.

Nope. That's why I included "whatever version of Affinity Photo you are using" in my reply.

From the formulation ", or on the Layers menu in whatever version of Affinity Photo you are using" I assumed, that the APhoto condition applies only to the Layers menu :-)

Unfortunately, this is the most common reason for switching to APhoto and back.

CTRL/CMD-E is merge down. If you select two layers nothing happens. If you select upper layer it works as supposed.

But only in Photo.

Is this a Designer document you are working with? I ask because of the Artboard.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4
Affinity Designer 2.4.0 | Affinity Photo 2.4.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Hi @skippermick

If you are having a specific issue with Merging layers, then please post an explanation.

It really shouldn't be difficult to do, but is impossible to help you if you just say "This is crap".

Which program are you using?

What are your layers that you are trying to merge?

What command are you using?

What is not working?

Can you show a screenshot / gif / video or provide a file?

Also, @skippermick, it is probably better at this point to post your own new topic in the appropriate Questions forum, rather than using this old (3 years) topic in an archive section of the forum.
