Editable Master Pages text on Pages

Recommended Posts

Maybe not a bug, just strange to me, maybe this is intended behaviour? Feel free to move or delete this post.

Step 1: Create a text box and some graphic elements on a Master Page

Step 2: Switch to Pages and click into the text box and change the text ...

I see the question marks on your face, so ... a bit more explanation why this is strange to me. Just a personal feeling.

Explanation -> If you are on Pages and click e.g. Master A in the Layers Panel (not the layers included in Master A) then you get some more options in the Context Bar -> Detached, Linked, Content (pre-selected) and Lock.
- Lock is not necessary since you can lock everything / specifically in the Layers Panel
- Content is not necessary since you can select and change the text anyway from Layers in Pages. Does not make so much sense to me here. To correct a few words or delete text it could be needed
- Detached is the interesting part of this story. If you want to override parts of the Master Page you need just this button.
- Linked is for me nice-to-have, but at the moment I can't see a real benefit over "normally" editing Master Pages.

Detached is a wonderful feature, so I did not want to complain. Just thoughts about a cleaner look. ;)
