What OS are you running? On Mac you can already open them in the latest Affinity Photo Customer Beta 1.7.0.6 if you switch the RAW engine to Apple (Core Image RAW). If you are using Affinity Photo retail 1.6.11 on Mac or running Windows you can use Adobe DNG Converter to convert the .CR3 files to DNG. They will open fine in Affinity Photo.

If you say one can open .CR3 files with a beta version it will be possible with the next version (not beta); right?

No, sorry. Apple (Core Image RAW) engine only supports .CR3 files in macOS Mojave. Since our RAW engine doesn't support them yet you have to either upgrade to Mojave or convert the .CR3 files to DNG to open with our engine.

Ok. One day I will jump to Mojave.

For now there´s de DNG way (thanks for the tip) and I also use Dxo PhotoLab 2 which support .CR3 files.
