firstdefence
You could move the circle over to the right by one pixel, this will get you 5 parts but you can add the shape and the sliver together to get the 4 shapes you expect. firstdefence
Where the geometry: divide is, you can select both layers and use Geometry: Add Quote iMac 27" 2019 Somona 14.3.1, iMac 27" Affinity Designer, Photo & Publisher V1 & V2, Adobe, Inkscape, Vectorstyler, Blender, C4D, Sketchup + more... firstdefence
I think the reason it doesn't split the rectangle in two is because it doesn't create a node on one edge. I'll make a brief video to show you so that you understand better. R C-R
Basically, you get 3 shapes instead of 4 because the divide operation creates the minimum number of shapes that divide the selected objects into different parts. Since the ellipse & rectangle touch along the right edge of the rectangle, the rectangle is converted into a 7 node curve, 3 of which are at the intersections of the rectangle & ellipse. One way to get the 3 shapes you want is to duplicate the rectangle & then snap the height of each one to the point where they touch the ellipse, with one above that point & the other below it. Then select all 3 shapes, divide, & delete the 2 extra shapes that creates. That is what I did in this divide example.afdesign file. The history is included so you can move the history slider back & forth to better see how it was done. _Tomasz_ 1 Quote All 3 1.10.8, & all 3 V23.0 Mac apps; 2020 iMac 27"; 3.8GHz i7, Radeon Pro 5700, 32GB RAM; macOS 10.15.7 Affinity Photo 1.10.8; Affinity Designer 1.108; & all 3 V2 apps for iPad; 6th Generation iPad 32 GB; Apple Pencil; iPadOS 15.
