Affinity does not open Nikon Nef files

Recommended Posts

Retry with compressed NEF files, or when on an actual MacOS then with the Apple RAW engine setup for processing  instead.

Hello HenkJ.
Welcome to this forum.
The Z6 is also not supported by Affinity, I think it will be the same with the Z7.

As a temporary solution I would use the DNG converter
Here the link to the DNG converter.

Cheers

I have a Nikon Z6 and have been told that shooting in RAW - uncompressed  is the best way to go.   Finding out that Affinity Pro has an issue with opening uncompressed NEF files.   Can anyone tell me if the DNG converter dumps down the image to 16 bit or not.   I love the idea of being able to do my photo work in 32 bit.

The Z6 RAW files are only 14 bit at best.  You can still work in a 32 bit colour space though.  The 14 bit files from my Pentax K5 come out of the Adobe converter with 14 bits.  They're smaller, but still 14 bit!

Hi Henk,  I think Affinity is just lagging behind until they are supplied algorithms for your camera. Nikon's Capture NX-D is the first one that gets updated and then other programmes. Hang ten, it is coming, just matter of time.
