[ 1.7.0.258 ] The program exits when loading .afphoto file -- [ SOLVED ]

Recommended Posts

The previous days everything worked as expected.
Since this morning, when I open a .afphoto file, the program exits without any warning.
Temp directory was empty.
Each time, a dump file was created  (see attached ZIP-file) !

I did a "clear user default"  startup  > same issue.
The strange thing is that it doesn't happen each time, kind of randomly, but very annoying.

At first I thought that this incident was linked to a certain file. But then I started testing with other files, as well as files saved in 1.6.5.123.

Then I tried a "repair" install, but the issue  is persistent !!

Next, I removed the application and did a new clean install, result :  the issue is persistent !!!!!

Next, System Reboot result :  still persistent !!!!!

Finally I gave up ...

Greetings,
Hubert

I came across this article recently: Windows 10 KB4482887 Cumulative Update Causing Major Stuttering in Games

It might affect other Software too (just a guess).

Microsoft suggests to uninstall this update.

It might be worth a try.

Yes or just restore to a point just before the update. I had similar on my wife's computer and that was the fix. Never forget you are a Microsoft Windows 10 ALPHA tester

I'm on Windows 10 home edition.
My system is up-to-date and I don't have that KB4482887 Cumulative Update installed.

I've done a Sysinternal Process Monitoring and saved the log file (200 MB). Maybe someone of the Devs may be interested in ?

I'm running win10 home also, though 1809 with the KB4482887 update installed and the 4.7.2 .NET framework
And here it loads just fine

I had to force a manual 1809 build update from the the windows 10 download page.
software download windows10
Which took me a couple of hours.

And yes, problem solved.

Thank you all for the spontaneous responses.
Which is why this forum a so valuable.

I have automatic updates set to on.
Now, for a  while I wondered why that 1809 build wasn't yet installed on my system. But via settings > updates & security it stated that my system was up-to-date. So I thought  it might be related to the my "Windows 10 Home edition".
A bit naive of me of course.
What surprises me is why this problem only occurred a few days ago although the 1809 build was released in october 2018 !!
But it doesn't matter, from now on I'ill keep a close eye on it .
@haakoo thanks for the link.

Hi HVDB,

The 1809 update was a big problem at launch, so it was delayed. New launches depend on the hardware configuration of the computers. My desktop PC was updated on February 20th and my laptop on March 5th ...
Do not worry about it ...
