J.Archer
Hey all, I have been using affinity photo on my ipad for some time and recently made the switch on desktop as well but have been running into a problem daily at this point and its making the software frustrating to use, especially when im trying to get something done quickly. This seems to happen specifically when opening a file (.ai files) and as far as I can tell the program isnt 'unresponsive'. I can ctrl+tab to move between open files but clicking on the ui, anywhere, does nothing whatsoever no matter what once affinity has entered this state. I can still dropdown the menu items and some will actually do something but most dont. 70% are greyed out like this: https://goo.gl/gU5mu7 so far the only way I have been able to get affinity to stop doing this is to quit and restart. I have looked on every workspace on every display, its not some hidden top menu (thats user accessible anyway). If anyone knows whats going on or how I can avoid this happening I would be really thankful. I couldnt find anything googling and I just want my desktop software to work as well/smoothly as it does on my ipad. edit: I should add that the 'expand, minimize, cloze' buttons at the top left are non-functional and the app will not close unless I force quit it from activity monitor. edit 2: It seems to be specific to dragging ai files into affinity rather than opening them with a doubleclick. just completely lobotomizes the program. Edited March 8, 2019 by J.Archer clarifying how broken this piece of software is for me.
Staff MEB Posted March 9, 2019 Staff Share Posted March 9, 2019 Hi J.Archer, Welcome to Affinity Forums What's your Mac specs? Do you mind attaching one or two of those problematic Ai files so we can try to reproduce the issue here please? I can provide you an upload link if you don't want to post them publicly.
