Fuji RAW format and the different RAW Engines

Recommended Posts

I am aware that there are problems with the Fuji RAW and you are aware of it but this has me intrigued.

Some interesting results with the Fuji RAW format and the different RAW Engines. With the Raw Engine set to Serif Labs I can open the files in both 1.6.7 and the beta 1.7.0.111. Both will crash if I use the Raw Engine set to Apple (Core Image RAW), however the 1.6.7 version will give me an empty screen with no percent for the image size and will crash if I press the develop button whereas the Beta will immediately crash on choosing the file and hitting open in the dialog.
These files are old, circa 2005 and came from a FinePix F700 camera according to the info from the beta version. A fine little camera until it started corrupting any card I put into it.
Interestingly if I change the Raw Engine after opening the .RAF file the program does not crash.
No problems encountered with either .CR2 or Pentax .DNG raw files from a K10D.

I will continue using the Serif Raw engine.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4
Affinity Designer 2.4.0 | Affinity Photo 2.4.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
