Illustrator image trace to AD or something else? When I need to do that the best I've found is Super Vectorizer but only for low'ish colours, usually does a better job than AI.

I don't have/use Illustrator, thus can't tell how capable it's tracer is. - Groot is vectorized with an older version of Super Vectorizer (though the actual newer SV version should be better) due to color quantisation and in order to slightly better match colors. The enhanced potrace/autotrace based tracer, which is nowadays build-in in Inkscape, should probably also be able to do a decent job here for color quantisation when setup accordingly. Beside those I sometimes also use my own developed tracer, which too is based on the potrace engine.

However for quick turnarounds and halfway accurate vectorization/tracing SV is pretty good, also in terms of usability and overall speed performance!
