Dan Thomas Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 When I do something like "New Fill Layer", I want it at the bottom of the layers list. Is there a way to way to automatically add a new fill layer to the bottom of the layers, or else a keyboard shortcut to move the current layer down, preferably to the bottom? Thanks. Quote

You could useArrange > Move to Back You can create a shortcut for insertion behind viaEdit > Preferences Select Keyboard Shortcuts in the second drop down list choose Arrange then search for Insertion Behind Butt you'll still need to select the bottom layer first Quote Affinity Photo 2.3.1 Laptop MSI Prestige PS42 Windows 11 Home 23H2 (Build 22631.3007) - Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8565U CPU @ 1.80GHz 2.00 GHz - RAM 16,0 GB
PaulEC Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 In Windows you can use "Ctrl + [" to move the layer down and "Ctrl + ]" to move it up. "Shift + Ctrl + [" jumps to the bottom and "Shift + Ctrl + ]" to the top. Sorry, I don't know if you can do the same on a Mac. Dan Thomas Posted March 3, 2019 Author Posted March 3, 2019 Thanks, Paul! "Command+[" moves it down on the Mac. Just what I wanted. Quote

I discovered that there actually is a shortcut to move the layer (see previous reply). But I really appreciate you took the time to give me such a detailed reply. Thanks! Quote

That makes it very quick & easy to add a new Fill layer & move it to the back without having to move the pointer very far. Dan Thomas Posted March 3, 2019 Author Posted March 3, 2019 Since I'm new to APh, it didn't dawn on me that "Arrange" was for layers. Thanks for the info, and the idea about customizing the toolbar. Quote
