Simple Resizing of image dimensions

Recommended Posts

What is the story with resizing an image in affinity on the ipad?

One would think it is such a rudimentary action for a sophisticated editing program to perform, but Im having a hell of a time trying to make the most basic changes to an image.

i just bought affinity today and the first purpose i need it for; simply to resize an image for print the program just does not want to do.

i want to resize by cm for print.          I click the resize option, change to cm, enter the ammended dimensions, then when I click confirm.. suddenly the quality reduces!  Why is this?

Then after 20 minutes trying to figure out why this is, i give up deciding to accept the reduced quality. :(

Next I need to export the image, as a printable file. So I click on export and I am brought to a window to finalize dimensions before exporting, but all the dimensions have changed back, also in pixel.

i try the process again, making the dimension amendments again, click export and boom back to original dimension readings.

You can imagine how frustrating this is.

What is the problem here, the system just doesn’t remember dimension alterations made!

For such a seemingly nice looking program, this is quite a disappointing first usage. Unless someone knows something I’m missing here..

Any advice with this would be greatly appreciated.

Best,

Niall

Hi @Niall Dooley,

Welcome to the forums.

What is the original size of your image and what is the size that you want to resize it to ( CM and DPI ) . Just beware that any upsampling will reduce the quality. The more you upsample, the lower the quality will become.

Thanks,

Gabe.

If resizing with 'Resample' turned on, you will effect quality. Turn off Resample on the 2nd Context menu. You need to make the CM (Unit) Selection changes on the 2nd. menu too or they don't stick (bug?).
