sentientbean
Hello, Can anyone tell me how to join/link two adjacent "closed curves/shapes" to create a third, separately fillable zone/curve? I have a lot to learn. I hope the attached imaged illustrates what I am trying to achieve. Many thanks, if you can help.
Staff MEB Posted April 12, 2015 Staff Share Posted April 12, 2015 Hi sentientbean, Go to menu View ▹ Snapping Manager... and check Snap to object geometry almost on the bottom of the dialog. Then select the Pen Tool and move the cursor near the corners of the other shapes. It should change to a yellow circle when you are over the nodes. Just click in all of them to form the new shape. sentientbean
Hi MEB, Brilliant! Fantastically helpful, once again. The only difference is that, when I tried it, the nodes changed to magenta circles, rather than yellow, but hey, it works perfectly! I will pass this knowledge on to a fellow AD user, who will be very glad to have a solution to this little conundrum. :) Thanks so much for your prompt assistance. :)
Staff MEB Posted April 13, 2015 Staff Share Posted April 13, 2015 Looks like you're using Affinity Designer 1.2 (MAS). In the latest beta it is yellow. In the MAS is magenta. This may be a bug. Ben has made some changes here due to the new grid implementation. Have to check this out. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
sentientbean
I'm afraid I don't know what the term "MAS" means? Is there anything I should be doing or concerned about, other than just upgrading to the next software update whenever it gets released? Staff MEB Posted April 13, 2015 Staff Share Posted April 13, 2015 No, you don't have to do anything. The problem is with the latest Beta (which is highlighting the overlapping snaps as yellow), not with the MAS version (Mac App Store), which is the version i believe you're using.
