Customized colour profile

How do I apply a customized colour profile to Preferences?

If you mean Preferences > Colour, from the Mac Preferences help topic (emphasis added):

• You can set up your default RGB, CMYK, Greyscale and LAB colour profiles for use in future documents. Select from the pop-up menus.

IOW, those profile options are only for new documents, not existing ones.

The customized profile is visible in the RGB list but in the CMYK list. This is the profile I use for printing when using Photoshop.

That's a printer profile, not a document profile.

You would apply it using a Soft Proofing adjustment layer to verify that your image had been properly edited. Them you would hide the Soft Proofing layer before printing, and specify that profile during printing.

Note, if you're on Windows, that there's a known Affinity problem where CMYK printer profiles won't show up in the Affinity print dialog.
