NoLongerHere Posted February 26, 2019 Posted February 26, 2019 This was this evening's shading practice/doodling, just the pen tool as usual, using a very grainy artifacty photo as the reference. But it didn’t really matter as I just needed to know roughly where the highlights and shadows were. I worked on it for a little while then exported it and though oh my God it’s hideous. Hated everything about it and thought about stopping there. But I hadn’t really done that much so I’m not sure what I was expecting. Anyway I did keep going and came up with this. With big blurs it almost ends up like painting it, long winded painting and in my case sucky painting but still painting. It’s a bit weird but in the end I quite like it, I think, I can't decide if it's ok or rubbish. Anyway it was good practice. Danika 1 Quote
firstdefence Posted February 26, 2019 Posted February 26, 2019 I think you need to take it for what it is, an exercise. In visual terms, the nose looks like a bats, the top lip looks odd like its pressed against glass and they look scratchy, the end of the nose and the chin compound the pressed against glass look. Really not sure about the freckles I tried to be gentle Quote iMac 27" 2019 Sequoia 15.0 (24A335), iMac 27" Affinity Designer, Photo & Publisher V1 & V2, Adobe, Inkscape, Vectorstyler, Blender, C4D, Sketchup + more... Danika Posted February 26, 2019 Posted February 26, 2019 I think I like it. It's not finished but as far as it goes it looks good and does look weird. Quote
