JPEG Export losing image quality

Recommended Posts

I'm creating email signature images in Affinity, including text element. I've tried numerous ways of exporting the image, straight to JPEG and to PDF first then JPEG. They always end up blurred. There must be a way to do this. Any suggestions? Image needs to end up 4cm wide. Can I not convert the vector image to a certain size before exporting to keep the quality?

Hi IDN,
Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
How have you created these images? Are they vector or raster based? If raster what's their original size? And to what size in pixels must you export them? If the image is too small there may not be enough pixels to resolve/present all detail with enough clarity. Affinity doesn't support any text antialiasing options so other than tweaking the text manually to better fit the pixel grid you may have to resample the images and eventually sharpen them a little... Some more details would help to advise you better.

Hi MEB,

They are vector images. I have tried exporting a numerous pixel values from 450 width to 1800 width and find the same problem.

your sentence -  Affinity doesn't support any text antialiasing options so other than tweaking the text manually to better fit the pixel grid you may have to resample the images and eventually sharpen then a little..- Do you mean recreating the image in the right size from the start before export?

4cm = 151.18110236px so I rounded up to 152px

The dimensions are 152x58px

banner was created at 4cm in the document but initially on export it shows 476x181px

The GIF wins on file size, only just pipping the PNG 8 to the top spot by a few bytes
