AF Designer Swatches: Folder Location on Windows

Recommended Posts

Dear Affinity team,

I am trying to find out where the swatches I create in Designer are stored on the PC (I know that they can be exported but that's not what I want to know) and I unfortunately can't find any information on that.

And is it a file like Tools.xml in AppData/Affinity... or is the information for the swatches embedded in another file somewhere else entirely?

Best regards

See this post by @Wosven for the location of the Windows directory containing the various "propcol" files. Assuming it is the same in the Windows version as in the Mac one, all your Application swatches palettes will be stored in a single file in that directory named "fills.propcol." A Document palette is storing in the document itself, not in this directory.

The various propcol files are stored in a proprietary binary format & cannot safely be edited or otherwise altered outside the application, if that is why you want to know.

I believe this post explains it better:

Indeed it does, probably because of the brilliance & foresight of the user who started that topic. xD

All kidding aside, that's the topic I was looking for to link to when I started my reply above, but it never came up in any of the forum searches I tried. I have just now added a few more tags to that topic that may help with that in the future ... maybe.
