Guest Posted February 20, 2019 Posted February 20, 2019 Is there a way to configure Affinity to not make any changes to existing Exif data and not add any new data to Exif? I just want to open a photo, make changes, then export with zero changes to Exif data. Is this possible. Currently Affinity is deleting Tags and Comments sections in my Exif data. Quote
Dan C Posted February 20, 2019 Posted February 20, 2019 Hi tangosdad, Welcome to the forums Unfortunately there's no such option in Affinity Photo currently, you can either choose to export without metadata, or with - which will overwrite any relevant sections of the metadata that may have been during the editing process. I assume you're referring to Lightroom Tags and Comments? I've opened a test image in LR, added custom metadata (Title, Caption, Copyright, Creator, Rating, Label & Keyword Tags) then opened this image in Affinity, applied a few edits and exported as a JPEG back to the same file. The preview in LR updated to show my changes to the image, however the metadata remained and all my custom changes were still there. Are you experiencing something other than this? In your Affinity Photo export settings under More do you have Embed Metadata checked? Quote
Guest Posted February 20, 2019 Posted February 20, 2019 If you right click on an image and choose Properties, then Details... I am talking about the Tags and Comments fields under Description. But the bottom line is I need an editor that does not make any changes to existing Exif data, I edit the photo, export, and the Exif remains the same. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like Affinity can do this. Quote
Dan C Posted February 20, 2019 Posted February 20, 2019 Thanks for confirming that. I've tested this in the latest Photo Beta and I used an image with a custom Title, Subject, Tags, Comments & Author. I edited this and then exported from Affinity leaving Embed Metadata checked. All fields were untouched, other than comments, please see my below screenshots. However, as you've mentioned there is no option in Affinity currently to not change metadata at all when exporting, apologies. Quote
