Reporting Localisation issues in Windows Publisher Beta #249

Recommended Posts

  • Staff

The latest Affinity Publisher Windows public beta #249 has all UI locales available, (so is no longer restricted to UK English since #238).

In the Edit menu > Preferences > General you can choose any of the 10 languages, restart the application and experience Affinity Publisher in that locale.

We do not expect to have got all the localisation correct yet and possibly we are not using the standard terms, so if you see any words or phrases that are out of the ordinary, or are clipped/cropped short in the Windows build PLEASE report them in this thread, stating the language and version you are running and what OS you are seeing the problem on.

Use this thread (Do not make new threads) unless you are seeing a bug that does not happen in English, so Bugs in new threads, localisation issues in this thread

Inconsistent separation of values. See attached image. Should be always separated with a comma.

1 + 2 + 3) These are straaaange values for a 10pt text.
4) Please set the value to 0 there.

I think he's saying that his #1 and #3 are separated by periods rather than commas.

I don't understand why #4 should be 0, or how that's localization as opposed to (possibly) some other issue.

 I assume he's wanting to see 12,00 ? - that wouldn't be a localization issue

No, this is not want I want. I mean everything is set to a default value for spacing etc, but not for the margin below the paragraph? This was just a wish for a preset value.

So this bit was not a localisation issue at all?

Verzierung (Decorations): First I had no idea what Verzierung should be. Maybe the term Absatzlinien would make it more clear? Btw. please make the icons more obvious (darker lining) whether the lines are top, bottom, left, right.

1) Ascent = Darüber
2) Descent = Darunter

I found a little thing if i create a new document.
Please change innen / außen to Links and Rechts like it is in Desinger. You can find by the bleeds and borders.
See Screenshots below please.

Left/Right (Links/Rechts) is more appropriate in Designer than in Publisher, I think. In Publisher you can have 2-page spreads ("facing pages"), where page 1 is a left page and page 2 is a right page, and the "left" margin or bleed would be on the left side of page 1, and the "right' margin would be on the right side of page 2.

"Inner" and "Outer" are more natural for facing pages, because "inner" if the right margin of page 1 or left margin of page 2, and "outer" is the left margin of page 1 and the right margin of page 2.

You are right walt. I thoguht that it is wrong but now it makes sense.
I looked in an  other software and there it´s the same with bleeds and borders. I worked with it for a long time but I never noticed that it is Inner (Innen) / Outer (Aussen).
