Chris26
I moved a folder containing All the graphics and project material into another folder, in other words, I did not move the images independently to another destination. The files print with images intact. However, as you can see from screen shot, the images no longer dispplay their thumbnails in the folder, and I the UPDATE button is greyed out in the resource manager. Any suggestions please? Don't forget to make multiple copies of your front door key and post them to all who demand access to all the doors inside your home including the windows and outside shed. Joachim_L
I am afraid there is no other suggestion than moving the folder back. Bad: Even when the Publisher file is in the folder with the image he/she/it won't recognize it. Too bad: If in preferences the option is set to update linked files automatically during opening the Publisher file there is no hint WHICH file has to be replaced at this very moment, because the file name for the image to be replaced is missing. Update lets you update images that exist. Since these no longer exist, you would need to use the Replace button, and probably for each missing image. Or, close the document, and when you re-open it Publisher will ask if you want to locate the images. Say yes, and then when you find one of them Publisher should find the rest of them automatically. Or, as Joachim said, move the folder back. Yes, locate where the images are now stored, but you can't pick any of the images. Means, I don't know which image Publisher wants to re-link first when the dialogue pops up. First I thought Publisher wants to re-link the first image sorted after name, but Publisher wants to re-link the image that was placed first in the document. So what if can't recall the first placed image anymore? So the first file name (to know where to start) in the re-link dialogue would be handy. Ressource manager as a panel of its own as well. Chris26
Thankyou Walt, quite a hassle, I thought at the least that if you kept all files and images in one folder and simply moved That folder into another one everything would be ok, I can accept that if you move the images this would need re-linking but I will not be doing that again. Joachim, you are right when you said: So the first file name (to know where to start) in the re-link dialogue would be handy. Ressource manager as a panel of its own as well. The name of the file to locate would be so handy. Quote Microsoft - Like entering your home and opening the stainless steel kitchen door, with a Popup: 'Do you really want to open this door'? Gianni Becattini
Thanks and sorry for delay in replying. I could solve doing the correction directly when asked at file opening and not from the resource window.
