onieder
New to Affinity Photo and Designer. I have a simple black and white jpg file. The simple black outline has been selected in Affinity Photo. How do I convert the Selection to a path, and open the path in Affinity Designer as vector? I am sure it is simple, and have done a hundred times in Photoshop. But can't seem to figure out in Affinity, Searched for Videos on your YouTube page as well? Staff Callum Posted February 19, 2019 Staff Share Posted February 19, 2019 Hi Onieder, Welcome to the forums Unfortunately this isn't currently possible in the Affinity range. I will move this thread to the Feature Requests section. Thanks Callum Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP. onieder
Heartbroken that I have to return to the blood sucking hijack artists known as Adobe and their inferior CC. Thanks, Owen
gdenby
Hi, onieder, Converting a selection to a "path" as Adobe calls them, essentially doing a bitmap trace to create a vector, is something that comes up very often. Many Affinity users, myself included, find that either free or very low cost vectorizing utilities can do the job. It does add maybe a minute onto a task. Usually, for me, less, so its something I can manage Quote iMac 27" Retina, c. 2015: OS X 10.11.5: 3.3 GHz I c-5: 32 Gb, AMD Radeon R9 M290 2048 Mb iPad 12.9" Retina, iOS 10, 512 Gb, Apple pencil Huion WH1409 tablet
