Problem Copying & Pasting a Selection and Saving Transparencies

Regarding Affinity Photo;  I have read up on how and also watched video tutorials, yet I am unable to simply copy and paste a selected portion of an image.

In addition, I am unable to create and save an image with transparency.  How do you simply select a portion of an image that you want to keep, then delete the portion that you don't want, and save the image with transparency?

The masking technique that is being promoted does not seem to work.  I'm starting to wonder if there is a bug in my version.

***Opinion*** I  have been using image editing softwares for 23 years and I have never found a simple task like this to be so non-intuitive on a software.

Someone... please address this problem for me.

Hi Madd,

Welcome to the forums

Please could you try right clicking you Layer in the Layers tab and choose Rasterise then try copy and pasting your selection?
