AlanPC Posted February 16, 2019 Share Posted February 16, 2019 In the tutorial the chap just clicks on the helpfully-labeled button for the in-painting brush, but I see no such button? I've tried every icon down the left hand side, none of them show a context-sensitive inpainting brush button. In the help section it says to select a layer... ok... and then press the button. Sure thing, if I knew where the button was? It's not in the same place as shown in the video. (Edit: Have found it can be activated via the Edit menu, but I'm still missing a button. Alfred Posted February 16, 2019 Share Posted February 16, 2019 When you click on the little triangle at the corner of the Healing Brush Tool icon, a flyout appears: the Inpainting Brush Tool is on that flyout. Alternatively, you can press the keyboard shortcut J repeatedly to cycle through the tools in that group. The Inpainting option on the Edit menu isn’t a tool, it’s a command. It inpaints an existing ‘marching ants’ selection. If you mean the Inpainting Tool icon in the Tools panel, it has not been removed. It is just one of the 5 retouching tools that by default share the same icon position on the Tools panel. However, you can configure the Tools panel however you want via the View menu's "Customize Tools..." item. (Don't confuse that with the "Customize Toolbar..." item.) Below is a screenshot of the Customize Tools interface, with some of its less obvious features highlighted: On the left, you can see how I have set it up on my Mac, using a number of the hard to see in the dark interface spacers to group the tools the way I like.
