[By Design] Affinity Photo & Designer crash frequently on iPad

Recommended Posts

I’ve got both Affinity Photo & Designer on iPad Pro 11” (iOS 12.1), running latest apps version. They keep crashing randomly, especially Affinity Photo app as I’m using it quite often. For Designer app, it crashed when exporting the file using “share -> Save Image”. Please advise. Thanks.

Hi @Axel TT,

Welcome to the forums.

  • Can you reproduce the crash? (if you cannot then we may struggle to also, making it even harder to fix)
  • Does it happen for a new document? If not do you have a document you can share that shows the problem?
  • If you cannot provide a sample document then please give an accurate description of the problem for example it should include some the following:
    •    What application (Designer/Photo/Publisher) are you using?
    •    What happened for you (and what you expected to happen)
    •    Provide a recipe for creating the problem (step-by-step what you did).
    •    Screen recording of a crash in action

Hi Axel TT,
Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
Affinity Designer (and Photo) for iPad need to have read and write permission to import/export/save from/to Apple Photos. To give Affinity Designer/Photo permission/access to Apple Photos, run them, click the plus icon in the Welcome Screen and select Import from Photos. Affinity Designer/Photo should ask for permission to access your photos. Click OK to give it permission to access your Photos library - you can now close that file if you want. You should then be able to import/export/save from/to Apple Photos without issues.
