Develop making image 'whiter'

Recommended Posts

Here's something that's confusing me. Is it a bug?

  1. Open a raw image (mine is .arw from Sony A7R2, 42mpx sensor, 40m compressed raw)
  2. Click on Develop.
  3. When you get to Photo persona, image is a lot 'whiter'
  4. Histogram has shifted.

Illustrated in attached video, including comparison with AP V1.6, where 'whitening' doesn't happen but histogram shift does.

Yes, I know there's a blue spike at the right of the RAW histogram. I decreased exposure to bring this in. Same effect on Develop. It also happens with other images.

What's happening here? Any bugs in the woodwork?

(In experimenting, turning Gamma (in Levels) up to 2 improves/restores things, as does pulling Curves mid-point down).
