info panel

only thing i am missing right now (or did i overlook it?), is an info panel, where i can see color values and coordinates of the actual mouse cursor position.

ideally the color value field is configurable to define what color model is shown (like rgb, hsl,...).

 

everything else so far is really fun to work with. its so much less annoying than illustrator ^^

Welcome to Affinity Forums
Assuming you are talking about Affinity Photo go to menu View ▸ Studio ▸ Info. Click the "contrast" icon to change the colour format.

From your reference to Illustrator seems you may be using Affinity Designer. If that's the case there's no info panel there.

I second this feature request. Designer allows you to edit pixel artwork in situ (which is great), but the lack of an info panel makes me feel like I'm flying in the dark.

@gurudon: What you can do is grab the eyedropper icon from the Swatches or Colour panel and drag it over your artwork. Not as convenient as an ever-visible info panel, but useful sometimes.

With this logic, it is not a problem that all Affinity applications have exactly the same functions as other applications, so it makes no sense to have three different applications - just one monster application, which will be unnecessarily complicated and unnecessarily expensive for many users. If we take into account the fact that for many reasons it is reasonable to divide into three different applications, then it is also quite obvious that some functions / features will remain reserved only for some of these applications.

It’s quite obvious that some functions/features won’t be available in all of the apps, but I haven’t encountered a persuasive argument for the Info panel being absent from Designer.

I often use File > Open in… when I need the functionality of another app.

Did it never happened to you that a color seemed off, and you want to correct it until it matches a given value?

never wanted to find out if there are areas with partial transparency, leading to issues when blending layers?
 

Never wanted to check hue, saturation, or luminance values for certain pixels? And how these values change depending on you edits or while tweaking settings of layers?

We’re discussing the inconvenience of having to switch applications. The Info panel should be available directly in Designer.

No. If you notice, we are discussing the alleged fact, that the Info panel does not work/help when switching applications.

I'm not saying anything about whether or not it's convenient, I was just wondering why switching applications doesn't help in this case.

Since the Info Panel is not able to save the readings (which is a great pity), so that the color values can be used repeatedly (for example, when setting the stroke), so I still have to write down the values somewhere. However, I can also do this when switching using Edit in and returning to ADesigner, or I can edit the already prepared move according to the read values.
But in this example, I'll use the Color picker rather than manually rewriting the values.

Unfortunately doesn’t help when you need to adjust an effect until you get a wanted value in info panel. There are lots of tutorials using this method. Its not only getting a static input from info panel, it’s adjusting something to get the target value in info panel.
