jessicahopemedlock Posted February 8, 2019 Posted February 8, 2019 Hey guys, I am having issues when filling a square with a pattern I have made. When I open the PNG in the file it is the correct colour. However when I fill the square with the PNG in the same file it seems to change the colour of the PNG. So for example, a print with a red background when opened using affinity designer (PNG) is the correct colour. However when I use the gradient tool to fill a square with the pattern it becomes orange. Im trying to update my portfolio and this is a bit of a nightmare... perhaps there is an easy fix that I'm not seeing! If anyone can help i would really appreciate it. Thanks! Quote
Staff Callum Posted February 8, 2019 Staff Posted February 8, 2019 Hi jessicahopemedlock, Welcome to the forums Please could you send me a copy of the PNG file so I can look into this further for you? Thanks Callum Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.

carl123 Posted February 8, 2019 Posted February 8, 2019 If the PNG file is large try reducing it to about 2000px wide, Error code 200 can occur on uploads of extremely wide images on this forum Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. firstdefence Posted February 8, 2019 Posted February 8, 2019 I wonder if one document is RGB the other CYMK? I filled this with your Pattern and the dragged that pattern into the workspace and they match exactly. this is CMYK8 by the way. This one is RGB8 Coincident? jessicahopemedlock Posted February 8, 2019 Author Posted February 8, 2019 im so useless with computers. Forgive my stupidity but I tried to save a PNG as cmyk and i couldnt, it would only let me do it in RGB... but yes, my affinity designer portfolio is in cmyk. Should I change the portfolio to RGB? or is there a way to save a PNG in CMYK? Quote

From the Wikipedia PNG entry: Quote The PNG working group designed the format for transferring images on the Internet, not for professional-quality print graphics, and therefore it does not support non-RGB color spaces such as CMYK. jessicahopemedlock Posted February 11, 2019 Author Posted February 11, 2019 So I guess I dont understand if there isnt a way to save a cmyk file as a PNG why the pattern mode in infinity only allows you to use PNG's... or is there another way to add patterns without using PNG's? Quote
