johnhol
I am using a mac book pro late 2013 retina, i5 processor and 4 Gbyte 1600MHZ DDR3, Affinity is slow to load files, especially CR2, and almost impossible with Pentax 645z 50mbyte files. Work is slow and tedious waiting for the spinning wheel to stop after every edit. It's almost un-useable. Not that happy with its performance what I used to do in photoshop in five minutes is taking close to 20 minutes in Affinity thats if it doesn't crash. Think I would like a refund and then remove this software from my computer.
Staff Lee D Posted February 8, 2019 Staff Share Posted February 8, 2019 Hi johnhol The RAW engines may take longer to load larger RAW files due to having more data within the file, files from a Pentax 645z range from 50MB upwards From a few of tests on an Intel i5 2.7GHz with 8GB of memory running Mojave loading times was around 14secs for a 66MB RAW. I also tested in our current 1.7 beta of Affinity Photo and this was reduced to around 10secs for the same file. You can try changing the Display and Retina Rendering options in Preferences > Performance to see if they have any effect on how the system performs. If the app is crashing you can send the crash files for us to take a look at, this may narrow down the cause of the crash and maybe something the developers can resolve for a future update/version. On macOS the files are located here: Users/<USERNAME>/Library/Containers/com.seriflabs.affinityphoto/Data/Library/Application Support/CrashReporter If you do wish to receive a refund and you are within the 14 Day money back guarantee, just send an email to affinityreturns@serif.com with your order information and that will be processed for you. johnhol
Hi Lee, looked for the crash file, not in the location suggested. Under Containers there is no com.seriflabs.affinityphoto directory. Looking at the beta version at the moment. Regards John

Try this: From Finder open the "Go" menu & choose "Go to Folder..." In the window that pops up type "~/Library/Containers/com.seriflabs.affinityphoto" (without the quotes), or copy & paste this bolded text Click the "Go" button. Note that this applies only to the retail version, not the beta.
