Hot Key Panning

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I am not sure whether this topic has been brought up before…

a simple function from QuarkXpress which I missed over the years with Indesign and find worthy of implementation, especially when working with text, is to have hot key panning changed from using the spacebar to the command  key. Or at least give the user the ability to change it themselves. this way one can pan while being zoomed in on text while it is highlighted.

Cheers!

This doesn't get you to where you want to be, but you can use the Navigator studio - Advanced settings - to create View Points which you can quickly switch between, with short-cut keys too if you want to use them.
It's probably more useful in Designer than Publisher - the View Points are fixed to a single page/spread rather than being 'relative' across all pages/spreads - but I think it's a function worth knowing about.

P.S. You can also use the Navigator for panning. Might be useful for what you need to do.
