Hi der8ecker,
Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
I'm assuming your camera is a Canon EOS 2000D (Rebel T7). Our RAW engine Serif Labs still doesn't support it but if you are using a Mac you can switch the RAW engine to Apple (Core Image RAW) engine which does support it. To do it, open a RAW file, go to menu View ▸ Assistant... and change the first dropdown (RAW Engine) to Apple Camera RAW. Reload the image/RAW file and it should display correctly (the Apple engine is not available in affinity Photo for Windows since it's provided by the App OS).

Can I use the camera raw Plugin from Photoshop?

Hi der8ecker,
Not sure I understood you question. I have edited my reply above to suggest you a solution. You probably didn't saw/read the changes I made.
You can use Adobe DNG Converter to convert the RAW's (CR2) to DNG and open the DNG's in Affinity Photo. The Serif Labs engine will load them correctly (works on  Mac and Windows).
