Affinity Publisher stability (split)

Recommended Posts

Once a year, I create (it's a volunteer job) a pamphlet--the program for the spring concert of Columbus Women's Chorus (a small non-profit in Ohio)--with the repertoire, ads, etc. I've been using Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and PhotoShop for over ten years and then I give the pdf to a local printer. I am ready to bail on Adobe. I'm self-taught and not too bad with the Adobe products and am working through learning Affinity Designer and Photo.

Do you have any idea when Publisher is going to be dependable? Our deadline is early April 2019 for this year's program. I use an iMac OS 10.12.6.

@babette

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

We are still working on Affinity Publisher features and stability and have not said when it will be available sorry. Until it is announced we cannot recommend you use it for any mission critical work, although I have seen many people ignoring that advise and treating it as "reliable" already.

We will do our best to make documents created in the beta builds continue to open through and past release, butwe do not promise that will be the case.

I hope it'll be ready in ten months, and will be able to open indd files!

I hope it’ll be ready before the end of this calendar year (i.e. less than nine months), but I’ll be pleasantly surprised if IDML import is available in the initial release. I don’t expect to see INDD import for a very long time, if ever.
