Linking text frames changes formatting

Recommended Posts

In this case I made a 3-column text frame and inserted some text creating an overflow. This overflow I linked to another 3-column text frame on a following page. The text in this new frame completely changed its formatting from 10/13pt to 1,7/2,2pt. See attached image.

Although I applied a text style for the complete text the text style in the second frame is marked with a +.

Are you sure that you didn't use the "scale frame and contents" control handle (the one disconnected from the frame) when you merely wanted to resize the frame?

If you use the handle I marked, it will have the effect you described. You need to make sure you use the the lower-right one that is connected to the frame, not the one I marked.

I doubt this is helpful, because the procedure is plain simple and it was the first case this happened. ;) What kind of videos are allowed here?

If you can reproduce it then PLEASE DO send a video if possible - it just helps us out in reporting issues and making sure we fully understand the process you are using. Most standard formats are allowed, and if not you can always zip it up :)

Awful quality, but I am not free to install anything on the company PC.

Thank you! Annoyingly I'm unable to reproduce it on a new document with some Lorem Ipsum text, looking at your video I presume it could be related to styles you've got applied to text. Would you be able to attach the document shown in the video prior to linking the two frames?

Thanks!

No problem. Hmm, if I recall it correctly then I copied the text passage from Indesign and edited the styles in Publisher. Maybe I should NOT copy'n'paste so much from Indesign, better is waiting for a decent import function for Indesign.

Wonderful! I've reproduced it now with your file! I'll get that passed on to development :) Thanks again for your help!

  • 2 months later...

Will this be fixed in the next version? Just asking, having the same problem again in another document. Or is there a valid workaround?
