I make a selection and click refine selection. When I use a brush on matte, I am assuming the image will only change on the area where my brush is painting. However, I notice that, as soon as I let go of the mouse button, several other areas change too. So if part of my image is fine but I need to work on an area, for example, with hair, I pass the matte brush on the hair only, however, by the time the hair is ok, the rest of the selection is ruined. Shouldn't the brush work in a local way? Thanks

Hi Artemis and Welcome to the Forums,

What are the other settings on Refine Selection?

I've not been able to replicate this on either Mac or Windows.  When i refine, if brush along an edge, it's only that edge that is effected. Would you be able to post a screen recording of this happening?

The settings are the default, but the effect can only be seen when choosing a black or white background (like on my settings) as a preview. Not with overlay (the red one). I assume that even with other backgrounds, it should be local, right?
