Súrja Knap
Hello, I need to compare PDFs. Problem is, that I don't always have access to fonts that are used in the PDF. I use photoshop for that - I open both PDFs, I duplicate layer to the other PDF so that I have them over each other and just turn the layer on and off to quickly switch between them to effectively compare them. But paying for PS just to compare PDFs is pure waste of money. I would like to use affinity program (any of them) for that, BUT: Affinity opens PDF files as editable. Whenever I don't have certain fonts, affinity does not display texts correctly. I need to open PDF 100% same as it will look like if I opened it in PS or acrobat. So flattening image AFTER opening does not make sense, as the texts are already destroyed due to missing fonts. Any options for me? I tried unchecking "open PSD text as text" but did not work for PDF.
Staff stokerg Posted January 30, 2019 Staff Share Posted January 30, 2019 Hi Súrja Knap and Welcome to the Forums, We will always open a PDF as editable where we can and we don't currently have any options to open the PDF as rasterized. That would make for a good Feature Request. I know we should see improvements on the font handling side of things in a future update but that isn't of much help for now. I'm sure if anyone knows of a workaround for this they will post it. If you are on a Mac, you could always use the Preview app to open the PDF and generate a JPG from the File>Export menu and open the JPG file in Affinity.
