Captbillturbo Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 My new IPad Pro will not import usable compressed raw files to Apple Photos using new Sony A7 111 via Apple card reader. Files are all blurry. It works good with jpeg. Will iPad import uncompressed files with Sony camera direct from card reader? If the above not possible, can I import raw files, view, and edit with Afinity on the IPad Pro to solve the problem. Prefer compressed raw files and direct from card reader. If this will work, what is the process? New hobby guy with first post to Afinity. Quote
Staff Gabe Posted January 29, 2019 Staff Posted January 29, 2019 Hi @Captbillturbo, Welcome to the forums. If you upload some sample files on our dropbox account, we can have a look for you. We would need both compressed and uncompressed files: https://www.dropbox.com/request/Q9yM6XSljiZffNzYjE39 Thanks, Gabe. Quote
Captbillturbo Posted January 29, 2019 Author Posted January 29, 2019 Thanks Gabe. I downloaded Afinity on IPad Pro and can open raw files one at a time imported from Apple Photo into Afinity. Unfortunately cannot seem to be able to open raw files in Apple Photos so cannot review which ones I may want to edit in Afinity. If you take 50 photos in a shoot, it is very laborious to open individually in Afinity in order to get to maybe 5 you want to edit and retain. I think if I cannot find a way to open raw files (like you can do jpeg) on the IPad Pro I will have to buy a computer. I am strictly amateur trying to learn a hobby and maybe wasted money on the IPad Pro as I have two other Older IPads and gave away my computers. My challenge - how can I open Sony a 7 111 raw compressed files on Apple Photo with IPad Pro. Quote
Staff Gabe Posted January 30, 2019 Staff Posted January 30, 2019 I see. I'm afraid there's not much we can do to fix your Apple Photo issue. Have you tried contacting Apple? Quote
DM1 Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 Like many photo 'viewer' apps, Apple Photo won't open raw files. Isn't your camera capable of recording a jpg along with the raw, to allow a quick preview? Quote M1 IPad Air 10.9/256GB lpadOS 17.1.1 Apple Pencil (2nd gen). Captbillturbo Posted January 30, 2019 Author Posted January 30, 2019 That’s a great idea I missed. Will try that today and thanks. Quote
