Though at the moment there is no file size relief by linking resources instead of embedding them I still choose to do so — hoping that some newer version might fix that omission. There is a serious drawback however: Publisher does not remember the location of the linked resource, whether the picture is in the same folder or not.

I think Publisher should

a) remember the location of the linked file

b) automatically recognize pictures that are in the same folder the Publisher document is in

c) provide an automatic search-by-name function in case it can’t find the recssources.

As far as I remember this worked to a degree in former beta versions so I guess this is a bug.

I'm not sure what you mean about it not remembering the location of linked files.

Do you have a situation where the information is missing in Publisher's Resource Manager?

Walt, what I mean is that Publisher more often than not prompts me to locate linked resource files though they haven't been moved since the last time I worked on the file. Haven’t checked out yet when this occurs. It happens quite often but not everytime.

I’ll keep on watching this.

Nothing unusual. Maybe it was just the switch from the last Beta to the newest one? I’ll check this when I’ll have more time than right now.
