CreativeChap Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 Hi all, new user here. For most part I'm enjoying my switch from illustrator to affinity designer on a mac but one issue bugs the hell out of me. Designer always opens on my imac retina screen. I use external cintiq and every single time I have to go on and resize the window. Can somebody point me in the right direction please? Thank you. Quote
Staff Gabe Posted January 28, 2019 Staff Posted January 28, 2019 Hi @CreativeChap, You would need to create 2 desktops first. Press CTRL + ArrowUP. Add a new desktop using the + sign on the right. Now, right click on the Affinity Icon in the dock > Options > And move it to your secondary display. Thanks, Gabe. Quote
R C-R Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 FWIW, in the Mac OS world, virtual desktops are called "Spaces." There are many articles on the web about how to create & use them, like this one for creating new desktop Spaces, & this (very long) newer one about Spaces in Mojave (but largely applicable to older Mac OS versions as well). In particular, in the Mission Control System Preference, if you tick the "Displays have separate Spaces" checkbox, you can set up different Spaces for each display connected to your Mac. Yet another long article mentions a Spaces feature that for some reason the others often omit that you should find useful, that being the "Assigning Destinations for Applications" section: Once you have created at least one additional Space, for apps in the Dock you can right click on them & in the Options submenu optionally assign that app to always open in a particular one of them. So for example, with Affinity Designer in the Dock, you can set it to automatically open in its own Space on the device of your choosing. Fixx Posted January 31, 2019 Posted January 31, 2019 OK, I have try spaces trick too. Usually apps open to main screen, that is, the one that has set in system preferences to have menu bar. This is how AP/AD usually works, but it can get mixed up if extra monitor is constantly plugged in/off. Usual problem with AP/AD is that AP/AD still use the metrics of smaller built in screen and place palettes in the middle of the screen and open document windows too small. Quote
