Beta 1.7.0.227 not installing

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I previously posted that I was having trouble with beta 221 not installing and was hoping that beta 227 would. Alas no.

The program gets as far as showing a black square (most times) and then quits. Task manager shows it loading into memory as far as 5mb before it quits.

The same happens if run as administrator or choosing a different graphic processor.

Any ideas to solve this would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem (Win10). Installation of previous beta versions was never a problem before.

Lenovo laptop with Intel Core i7, 16 GB RAM, Windows 10 Home. Former user of most Serif software from PagePlus 3.0 through PagePlus X9, now enjoying Affinity Designer, Photo, and Publisher.

Hi all,

Can I just clarify that this is happening when the installer executable is being ran, not the program itself? Or have you successfully updated the program but it now fails to run up?

Please

  1. Restart your machine,
  2. Uninstall your last Affinity Publisher install (if you have one)
  3. Restart your machine
  4. Right click on the installer EXE and on the general tab uncheck "Block" and press OK
  5. Install the new Affinity Publisher installer [ should be 332 MB (348,495,120 bytes) , Digital Signature 14:14  23 January 2019 ]

Hi Patrick,

Do you mean uninstall the whole program and then install the update on it's own? Does it work as the complete program?

In other words - can I  install version 227 on it's own?

I've just installed 206 it too and it works fine. 221 works on for me as well

Correction: It worked until I uninstalled it - it won't work again now.

I think we are going to need the installer logs for this and I will pass them all on to the Dev team on Monday.

press the start key and type (or paste) exactly this

%temp%\AffinitySetup

they are in a folder in there (which has the date and time of the install)

this may sound stupid, but can you please try changing your screen resolution/scaling to something lower I think this line in SetupUI.log is relevant as mine installed OK

+ Unhandled exception:
+  Message: Cannot locate resource 'resources/publisher%20x3.png'.
+  StackTrace:

Alternatively if you have a dual screen system (excended not mirrored) running at different resolutions try installing it from the desktop on the other screen. This is pure guesswork, but that resource should not be missing

Hi,

I have a 4k screen running at  3840 x 2160.

I took it down to 1920 x 1440; still didn't run. I don't have dual monitors on this laptop

Both .221 or .227 would not update on my computer.

I have never had my problems before. I thought that this my be a problem with my display settings.

My Scale and Layout was set at:

661703599_2019-01-25044917.jpg.207eb53964bd46595fdcd9d4be77efd2.jpg

So I set it to:

795839027_2019-01-25044917.jpg.327fee4c09c8a2cd406bc7d6668f2cbf.jpg

I updated from .206 to and .227 with out any problems.

Then I set it back to 225%

Easy! :1_grinning:

I love the Affinity suite. Keep up the great work!
