420libertarian
In the minute long video I demonstrate my problem. I want to fill in a group of combined vectors, how do I do this? http://youtu.be/NU02A1EUQdE
Staff MEB Posted April 7, 2015 Staff Share Posted April 7, 2015 Hello 420libertarian, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) What you have there is a group of two open paths. What you want is not grouping them but to create a single shape from them (in other words, a closed path). Check this video to see how to do it (no sound). Achim63
You'll have to connect the two curves on both ends to make a closed form - there's an icon in the context menu above the drawing area to do this (select two endpoints with the node tool and click on that icon). It's a hassle and sometimes doesn't work for no good reason, so there's room for improvement there. It doesn't help to put the two endpoints at the same place (like I'd do it in Illustrator, then use the "join" command).
Staff MEB Posted April 7, 2015 Staff Share Posted April 7, 2015 Achim63, It will work reliably if you enable Snap to selected curves. When both nodes are overlapping the color on them changes to purple. Achim63
Thanks, yes, that seems to work. I'd wish for an easier, more "intelligent" way, though. I remember struggling with it in Illustrator, too.
420libertarian
Thanks. Besides that basic issue, Affinity was super easy to learn, I really like it.
